Is using shampoo for blondes if I have dark hair a good idea or a bad one?

I'm male and I want my hair to be a little lighter than it is.Is using shampoo for blondes if I have dark hair a good idea or a bad one?
Use a shampoo with a color glaze. Other than that, the shampoos for different hair colors don't really do much. It won't hurt your hair though. Is using shampoo for blondes if I have dark hair a good idea or a bad one?
I don't think it will hurt your hair at all but... It probably will not make it lighter either. You could use any kind of shampoo for any hair color and it probably won't change the color, unless you go darker.
Shampoo for blondes usually has some strong yellow dyes in it, which supposedly makes blondes less faded. On darker hair, it won't be strong enough to show. There will be no harm done.

However, as to the matter of being lighter, that can only happen by removing some of your own colour pigments from the hair. This means using some form of bleach, whether chemical or through natural exposure of the sun. But be aware that removing some colour from the hair (usually the blue pigments) will leave more of the red and gold pigments, perhaps making your hair an unpleasant orange.

There is no way to make your hair lighter without the removal of colour from your hair, which is a permanent change to the structure of the hair. Your hair will still grow out as it always has, only the portion on the outside of the skin wil be affected.

You can, however, use a very strong yellow surface stain which can give the impression of being lighter when light is reflected from the hair. This will give the illusion of the hair being only a level lighter, depending how dark your own hair is.
